Thief River Falls and Northwest Minnesota are experiencing incredible growth in the air cargo sector. FedEx, UPS, and DHL all support operations from the airport using various sized aircraft. Air cargo service provided at the Thief River Falls Regional Airport is critical to economic and job growth in the region. As a result, a new 30,000 square foot air cargo facility with a two-bay hangar is currently being constructed to accommodate this growth. The facility will include robust fire protection system, provision for future third bay and attached office space, parking area, roadway connection, and utility connections. The facility will serve the multiple carriers providing cargo operations to the airport and region.

A concrete cargo apron was constructed in 2022, and the cargo facility is planned to be completed in June of 2024.
